Audio Technica AT-LP2A2 Fully Manual Belt Drive Turntable
Full Details
A Clear Choice: Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 Fully Manual Belt-Drive Turntable Sounds as Transparent as It Looks, Features Isolated Power Supply and New Carbon-Fiber Tonearm
The transparent, high-density acrylic chassis and platter that distinguish the Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 are the first signs this fully manual belt-drive turntable stands apart. Clear, pure, natural: This deck sounds just as great as it looks — no small achievement. Like much more expensive models, it features a separate control and power-supply unit to further isolate the ‘table from ruinous noise. A newly designed carbon-fiber tonearm for superb tracking, finely adjustable weighted anti-skate mechanism, and two counterweights (110g and 130g) give you extreme flexibility and control when it comes to cartridge configurations.
Look directly at AT-LPA2, and you’ll immediately notice the 30mm-thick acrylic chassis that reduces resonances and meshes with any decor. It works in conjunction with an optical speed-sensor system that maintains accurate platter rotation and a 20mm-thick acrylic platter calibrated to spin at a reliably consistent speed. Height-adjustable feet keep the turntable stable and ensure steady, reliable operation.
Able to play at 33 and 45RPM, AT-LPA2 delivers analog playback marked by precision, clarity, dynamics, and warmth. The crystal-clear appearance can be said to symbolize the hallmarks of this 'table's performance — transparent, neutral, lifelike, coloration-free. And while AT-LPA2 seemingly encourages cartridge experimentation, it comes with an AT-OC9XEN moving-coil cartridge mounted to a machined aluminum headshell. AT-OC9XEN features a nude elliptical stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil) and high-purity PCOCC coils. In addition to providing excellent channel separation, the lower mass of the moving-coil structure allows the stylus to react more quickly to changes in the record groove.
An RCA stereo cable, 45RPM adapter, ground wire, removable hinged dust cover, hex wrench, and white gloves come standard. For more information on this sharp-looking and stellar-sounding rig, call us up at 312-433-0200.
