More than four decades after the original model shook the audiophile world, the Michell Gyro turntable sounds and looks better than ever. The latest iteration of the fully suspended deck features a ground-up engineering overhaul that improves performance, usability, and reliability all the while retaining the unmistakable form factor. Anchored a redesigned main chassis comprised of machined, 19mm aerospace-grade aluminum that delivers incredible accuracy, rigidity, and quiet — as well as embedded brass counterweights that help balance the tonearm assemble and absorb vibrations — Gyro is unlike no other ‘table. 

Its list of new additions extend to precision tonearm coupling, a re-tuned suspension with 3.5Hz frequency and Equilibria lateral damping, an aluminum baseplate, and AI-modeled vibration control and structural optimization. Also onboard: A brand-new isolated motor pod and PSU with shielding, grounding, and electronic speed control; an inverted bearing with double-helix oil pumping for ample lubrication flow; and large Sorbothane isolation feet. 

So, what in laymen’s terms, does all of this mean? Gyro plays with gripping energy, focus, vibrancy, and emotionalism. Quiet, black backgrounds, smooth rotation, superb resolution even at low volumes, excellent bass definition, clear midranges, reference-grade timing, rhythm, and pitch accuracy: These are among the hallmarks of an iconic ‘table that has continued to evolve and improve over time, with this edition the pinnacle of Michell’s efforts.

TA2 Tonearm (Optional)
TA2 features a custom one-piece arm tube that is shot-blasted to make it more rigid. 22 holes are then drilled in the underside to reduce mass. The underside of the integral headshell is machined to be perfectly parallel with the bearing position. The tonearm is assembled using new ultra-low friction polymer bearings and mounted on a redesigned mounting base. TecnoArm 2 is wired with proprietary wiring loom and 99.9999% pure silver litz wire, from cartridge tags to phono plugs, with no internal wiring joints. The TecnoWeight counterweight allows you to set the tracking force for your chosen cartridge easily. A VTA/SRA adjuster sets the height of your tonearm, helping you ensure the stylus tracks the vinyl groove at the correct angle.

Redesigned Chassis
Where previous chassis used cast aluminum, Michell now uses precision-machined, 19mm aerospace-grade aluminum tooling plate. This material change alone delivers accuracy, rigidity, and a low resonance level that was not thought achievable. Embedded brass weights — carefully calculated and positioned — help balance the tonearm assembly while absorbing vibrational energy. Around the tonearm mount, foam damping inserts suppress reflections, ensuring the stylus/vinyl interaction isn't hampered.

Precision Tonearm Coupling
The tonearm is the gateway between the stylus and signal. Any flex or play in that connection will compromise timing and clarity. By replacing the semi-flexible Delrin with a machined metal interface, vibrations are more directly drawn away into the mass of the chassis and dissipated by the internal damping zones.

Re-Tuned Suspension with Equilibria
Suspension isolates the record from external vibration, but poor lateral control can cause drift or oscillation. Equilibria adds a self-centering mechanism that arrests lateral motion while preserving vertical isolation. The re-tuned 3.5Hz frequency places it below most room-borne interference.

Motor Pod with Electronic Speed Control
The motor is a major source of potential interference. By redesigning the pod to minimize electrical and mechanical noise — and adding speed switching via the controller — Michell delivers a quieter background and smoother playback experience.

AI-Optimized Vibration Control
Using advanced digital modeling tools, Michell simulated how vibrational energy would travel through the new chassis and suspension. This allowed the company to fine-tune mass distribution, counterweight placement, and damping zones — ensuring that unwanted energy is redirected and dissipated before it ever reaches the sensitive parts of the turntable.

Sorbothane Isolation Feet
Sorbothane is an advanced viscoelastic polymer that converts mechanical energy into heat. The feet offer superior vibration absorption and control due to multiple small contact nodes that compress more gradually and efficiently than a single large puck.
