Get Technics' signature direct-drive technology and robust torque as well as tremendous convenience in the SL-50C turntable, an analog package designed for modern lifestyles and easy usability. Complete with a built-in MM phono preamplifier, Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, and aluminum S-shaped tonearm with an enhanced tonearm base with a plain bearing system, SL-50C does the work for you. Plus, its compact 5.0 x 16.9 x 13.9-inch (HWD) size means it fits in places many high-end decks cannot.

Offering 33, 45, and 78RPM speed accessible via a control panel on the lower left corner of the MDF plinth that also handles start/stop functions, SL-50C includes a 2.78-pound die-cast aluminum platter with reinforced ribs and a directly mounted motor magnet for excellent stability, rigidity, and precision. It works in conjunction with the same 12-pole, 9-coil, three-phase, coreless, brushless direct-drive motor implemented in Technics' high-end SL-1500C and SL-1200 MK7 models. The result: high rotational accuracy and exceptional signal-to-noise ratio. You'll also get minimized cogging thanks to the presence of stators that don't use iron core. A rotor yoke that prevents magnetic flux leakage adds to the audiophile-minded touches.

Inside, a high-grade equalizer circuit housed in a shielded case helps eliminate external noise. The separate PCBs for power, motor control, and phono EQ are placed away from the tonearm with crossover-free wiring to minimize distortion. SL-50C leverages digital control to deliver rotation accuracy via precise speed detection and optimized motor-drive signals. On the bottom of the plinth, newly designed insulators — complete with rubber and the SL-1200 MK7 housing, spring, and cushion — provide excellent vibration resistance.

Able to start up in just 0.7 seconds at 33RPM, and completed with a stainless-steel center shaft and thrust bearing with steel balls, SL-50C plays LPs with smooth, lively, and accurate sound. Technics' decades of experience with turntables and trickle-down technology help make this rig a delight.
