Bilmuri is the solo project of musician Johnny Franck, who is also known as the former vocalist and guitarist for the metalcore band Attack Attack!. Since starting the project in 2016, Franck has released numerous albums under the Bilmuri name, blending various genres like post-hardcore, pop-punk, and country with electronic and ambient elements. The project's name is a playful, abbreviated parody of actor Bill Murray.

American Motor Sports marks a significant shift, incorporating more pronounced country elements and collaborations with artists like Mitchell Tenpenny and Dylan Marlowe.
