Joe Hisaishi's 2024 Concert Recording of Steve Reich: The Desert Music/Hisaishi: The End of the World on 180g 2LP.
Joe Hisaishi's new album was recorded live in Tokyo at the renowned Suntory Hall on July 31, 2024. It features the Japanese premiere of The Desert Music by Steve Reich, a friend and colleague of Hisaishi's, as well as The End of the World, a work by the Japanese composer himself. The pieces were performed by the Future Orchestra Classics under the direction of the maestro. This orchestra was founded by Hisaishi to share his interest in classical music with others. It is an orchestra of young musicians known for its lively, expressive interpretations of both the core repertoire and contemporary works. The vocal parts were sung by the Philharmonic Chorus of Tokyo and, in "The End of the World," by soprano Ella Taylor. This recording will be released on 180g vinyl.
