1976 and 1977 were two pivotal years in the history of Manfred Mann's Earth Band. During the middle of an extraordinarily successful run of five albums, the band underwent several line-up changes while continuing to build a devoted international following with it's distinctive fusion of progressive rock, jazz and blues. Although Manfred Mann was already familiar with chart success from his earlier career, The Roaring Silence elevated Manfred Mann's Earth Band to an entirely new level of international recognition, reaching the top of the charts in 1977. Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" certainly had all the ingredients of a hit, but it's phenomenal success must have come as a surprise to both Springsteen and the band, as it became the first No. 1 single for both artists. The song introduced a whole new generation of fans to Manfred Mann's Earth Band, with the inspired combination of newly recruited vocalist Chris Thompson's powerful performance and Manfred Mann's unmistakable keyboard work transforming it into one of the defining classic rock anthems of all time. To this day, it remains one of the most frequently played songs on classic rock radio.

2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Manfred Mann's Earth Band's legendary album The Roaring Silence. Featuring the US No. 1 smash hit "Blinded by the Light," the album became a worldwide chart success and remains one of the band's defining releases. This deluxe anniversary edition includes the original album, complemented by an exclusive bonus album featuring three brand-new studio recordings by the band alongside live performances of songs from the album, spanning both the original touring era and recent concerts. It is a fitting celebration of one of the most influential and enduring albums in classic rock history.
