Mono was an English trip hop duo that scored a hit in 1996 with their first single "Life in Mono." Formica Blues there only album, is a stunning piece of work. Affecting, atmospheric and life-changing with its haunting melodies. It's a product of its times obviously with strong derivation from Portishead and Massive Attack and the whole Trip Hop genre. The sensual and delicious female vocals from Siobhan de Maré are the main feature of Mono. Their music isn't overdone or distorted beyond recognition.
