Merregnon: Heart of Ice is Nobuo Uematsu's first original large-scale composition written specifically for the concert hall. It follows decades of work composing for the video game series Final Fantasy (Square Enix). In the tradition of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, the work introduces listeners to the instruments of the orchestra, assigning musical motifs to specific characters.

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the London Symphony Orchestra, Merregnon: Heart of Ice features narration by Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander. This colored vinyl edition includes a liner note from Nobuo Uematsu.
