The 2006 studio album by French rock outfit Phoenix, It's Never Been Like That originally debuted on the Billboard Heatseekers chart thanks to singles "Long Distance Call" and "Consolation Prizes."

Comprised of vocalist Thomas Mars, bassist Deck d’Arcy and guitarists Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz, Phoenix placed more emphasis on songwriting and guitar rather than just groove on their well balanced third effort It's Never Been Like That, an approach that would really pay off on their subsequent Grammy award winning 2009 album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
