Seong-Jin Cho's Chopin Piano Competition 2015 Reissued for Its 10th Anniversary Edition on 180g 2LP. Cut at Half-Speed by Emil Berliner Studios.
SEOUL, November 9, 2015 – On Friday morning, shoppers across South Korea flocked to record stores to purchase the debut live album by young pianist Seong-Jin Cho, who had won an award just 17 days earlier, on Deutsche Grammophon. Stores opened early that day to meet demand, and national television crews filmed the unprecedented scenes.
Ten years later, Cho is a global star, selling out major concert halls around the globe. But his Chopin Piano Competition Winners album, which made the young Korean famous overnight, was previously only available on vinyl in Korea, where it became a sought-after collector's item after its original release.
To mark the tenth anniversary of his victory at the Chopin Piano Competition, Deutsche Grammophon is now releasing a international version of the LP for the first time, featuring a new audiophile half-speed master from the Emil Berliner Studios and new artwork.
