Blue Note Classic Vinyl Reissue Series Edition of Sonny Clark's Sonny's Crib oAll-Analog 180g LP. Mastered by Kevin Gray Directly from the Original Master Tapes and Manufactured at Optimal in Germany.

One of the finest pianists and composers of the hard bop era, Sonny Clark followed up his 1957 Blue Note debut Dial “S” for Sonny with the stellar sextet session Sonny’s Crib, a swinging set of standards and Clark originals featuring John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Donald Byrd on trumpet, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Paul Chambers on bass, and Art Taylor on drums. Coltrane—who would record his masterpiece Blue Train just two weeks later—is in top form throughout including a commanding performance on a memorable version of “Speak Low” and an emphatic solo on Clark’s blues “Sonny’s Crib.” Clark also gives Byrd and Fuller moments to shine with the trumpeter taking the lead on the hard-charging opener “With a Song in My Heart” and Fuller delivering the beautiful opening melody on the ballad “Come Rain or Come Shine.”

This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
