Lost at Sea is the eagerly-awaited fourth album from Michigan indie rock/power pop supergroup The Legal Matters. The acclaimed trio (whose back catalog includes the 2016 Ominvore Recordings album Conrad and their most recent critically-lauded record Chapter Three in 2021) presents a new set crafted in closer collaboration than ever before, but still showcasing their knack for ace hooks and their signature immaculate harmonies in the vein of Big Star, Badfinger, Teenage Fanclub and Fountains of Wayne. Featuring the indie hit singles “Everybody Knows” and “The Message,” Lost at Sea finds the band breaking new lyrical ground in reaction to the turbulent cultural shifts to which its title refers, but staying true to the roots of the warm and welcoming sounds of the decades of melodic rock that have always inspired them.
