Louisville’s preeminent garage punks White Reaper return with their fifth studio album, Only Slightly Empty, on Blue Grape Music. The band, consisting of Tony Esposito (vocals/guitars), Ryan Hater (keys/backing vocals) and Hunter Thompson (guitars) burst onto the scene in 2015 with the release of White Reaper Does It Again and have since garnered a #1 at Alternative Radio with single “Might Be Right,” lit up ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and have shared the stage with the likes of Pearl Jam, The Killers and Weezer.
For over a decade, the group has been one of modern music’s most undeniably satisfying rock bands, churning out album after album of big guitars and bigger hooks. Their fifth album offering, and first for Blue Grape Music, Only Slightly Empty is an infectiously entertaining record that reminds listeners how truly rewarding cranked up amps and a good chorus can be. There’s a palpable energy coursing through Only Slightly Empty’s airtight half hour runtime: this is a rejuvenated White Reaper and it shows in the songs. “There’s definitely a fresh start feeling with this record,” says Esposito.
