Extending a lineage that stretches back to the prior century, the Shanling CD-S100 IV CD player gives you audiophile-quality disc playback as well as a suite of modern features: a ROHM BD34352 DAC, USB drive support, USB DAC mode, and wireless streaming included. This means you can stream high-res up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512; go wireless with Bluetooth 5.0 with LDAC, aptX HD, AAC, and SBC code support; and Wi-Fi stream via DLNA and AirPlay. CD-S100 can also function as a network source over Wi-Fi.

Inside, a DS11 precision laser unit based on the Shanling ET3 platform combines with the ROHM DAC, an OPA 1612 analog stage, MUSES8920, and 43VA R30 transformer to convey your discs with airiness, depth, clarity, and natural tonality. The balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs are switchable between line-out and pre-out modes. In addition, coaxial SPDIF and optical Toslink digital outputs allow the unit to serve as a transport for an external DAC. Frequency response measures 20Hz-40kHz (+/-0.2dB) with THD+N around 0.0005% from XLR and 0.0007% from RCA, signal-to-noise ratio up to 120dB (balanced), and channel separation at around 119dB. All admirable, to say the least.
