Access Next-Tier Performance from a "Really Special" Analog Package: British-Made Rega Planar 6 RS Edition Turntable Features Skin Laminate on Foam-Core Plinth, RB880 Tonearm, Nd9 Cartridge, and Two Reference Drive Belts
Call it the "really special" version of Rega's critically acclaimed and award-winning Planar 6 turntable. Bolstered with an aluminum metal and HP skin laminate with matching edging around the Tancast 8 foam-core plinth for increased rigidity, updated CNC twin-drive pulley, two Reference EBLT drive belts, RB880 tonearm, and a pre-mounted Nd9 moving-magnet cartridge, Planar 6 RS Edition offers vinyl enthusiasts a package that will reveal information encompassing details, textures, backgrounds, harmonics, and timing on records that they'd never before realized existed.
Taking cues from Rega's series flagship Planar 10 model – not the least of which is its double-brace technology – the British-made Planar 6 RS plays LPs with stunning accuracy, attention-grabbing dynamics, and engaging realism. A NEO MK2 Power Supply Unit with electronic speed change, advanced anti-vibration control, and user-adjustable electronic speed adjustment works to generate the exact frequency needed to turn the platter at the given speed. It produces near-perfect sinusoidal waveforms to drive the hand-tuned 24v motor, which in turn operates the aluminum subplatter.
Weighing 11.9 pounds and measuring 4.6. x 17.6 x 14.2 inches (HWD), Planar 6 RS also benefits from a dual-layer, float-glass, Opti-white clear glass platter; ultra-low-friction central brass hub; aluminum-trimmed support feet, and a smoked dust cover. Hearing it in action is both believing and inspiring. Planar 6 RS possesses the performance, appearance, and engineering of a component that already qualifies as a forever classic.
And let’s not overlook the Nd9 cartridge. Housed in a zero-tolerance, injection-molded, glass-filled polyphenylene sulphide body (PPS) whose light weight and low mass reduces stress on the tonearm bearings, Nd9 delivers race-car-quick speed, pinpoint precision, and abundant detail retrieval. Accurate channel balance, broad soundstaging, and ultra-focused tracking are also among its signature characteristics. It takes advantage of a neodymium N55 magnet and fine-line nude diamond profile mounted to a boron cantilever. This exceptionally small profile allows immediate adjustment to very small changes in the vinyl due to the small contact area of the diamond, resulting in operation that digs deep into the grooves and mines the finite nuances. Last but not least, miniaturized parallel coils wound in-house with 38-micron wire with only 1275 turns to produce a low-inductance, low-impedance generator for superior high-frequency response.

Double Brace Technology
The Planar 6 RS Edition plinth is strengthened using Rega’s double brace system. Mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing), this forms a structurally sound “stressed beam” assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance. Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.
RB880 Tonearm
Designed using 3D CAD technology, RB880 is the result of almost 40 years of tonearm design experience. It features an aluminum vertical bearing housing, a redesigned sleeve, and vertical bearing shaft (both manufactured from stainless steel) to improve mounting stability and overall rigidity. The advanced tonearm tube is designed using intelligent redistribution of mass, ensuring this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. The extreme levels of stability, coupled with almost friction-free movement from the high-precision hand-matched bearing assemblies, gather more information from your vinyl. You will also find Rega-made, low-capacitance phono cables terminated with high-specification phono plugs.
NEO MK2 PSU
Neo MK2 PSU is an advanced turntable power supply providing user controllable fine speed adjustment, an advanced anti-vibration motor circuit, and the convenience of electronic speed change. The Neo MK2 vastly reduces motor noise and improves speed stability and rotational speed accuracy.
