Description

Recording-Studio-Level Performance in a Tabletop Unit: Chord Electronics Hugo TT 2 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Masters the Art of DSD 512 and 768kHz PCM, Includes Crossfeed

A larger, more advanced version of Chord Electronics' award-winning Hugo 2, the futuristic-looking and The Absolute Sound Product of the Year and Golden Ear Award-winning Hugo TT 2 DAC/headphone amplifier/preamplifier distills record-studio-quality performance into a tabletop unit by way of mind-boggling technical specifications and relentless power. Its proprietary, in-house-built, custom-coded Xilinx Atrix 7 FPGA boasts 86 208MHz cores running in parallel to create a 16FS WTA 1 filter with 98,034-taps. The 10-element design also claims a discrete output stage, six massive capacitors with herculean peak output, and four-stage user-selectable filters. Translation: High-resolution DSD512 and 768kHz PCM like you've never likely before imagined. The detail, texture, realism, imaging, and soundstaging you'll hear from your music are simply off the charts. Add in a three-stage user-selectable crossfeed function for headphone users, and the British-made Hugo TT 2 is a slice of high-res and personal-listening paradise.

"Heard in isolation, the Hugo TT 2 sounds exactly like what it is: one of the finest headphone amp/DACs available today."
The Absolute Sound, Product of the Year Award

"The Hugo TT2/M Scaler pair extracts shocking amounts of beneficial musical information from standard and hi-res files alike. Sonic benefits include reduced congestion, purer timbres, sharpened focus and resolution, greater pitch definition, more incisive transients, heightened levels of dynamic expression, and larger and more realistic soundstage."
—Chris Martens, The Absolute Sound, 2019 Golden Ear Award

""Probably the most powerful upscaling device ever built."
Hi-Fi+, Desktop Headphone Amplifier/DAC of the Year

"The TT 2 excelled in reproducing music, whereas the HMS allowed me to experience my music at a completely new and deeper level."
Audiophile Style

Five Times the Processing Power of the Original Model
Hugo TT 2 is radically redesigned from the ground up, not only with beautiful new casework by Chief Designer John Franks, but with five times the processing power of Hugo TT and double that of the multi-award-winning Hugo 2. Hugo TT 2 distills more than 20 years of digital development by Rob Watts and takes advantage of the very latest technology. A brand-new high-power discrete output stage coupled with second-order noise-shaping integrated between the DAC output and filter is employed to massively reduce distortion.

Reference-Setting Power Delivery, Three-Stage Crossfeed for Headphones
Further improvements extend to the power delivery. Hugo TT 2 eschews the Li-Po battery power supply of the original and ushers in six super capacitors capable of delivering huge, linear dynamic currents when the music demands it and features a peak output of 5A, 9.3V RMS. Hugo TT 2 also delivers Chord Electronics' beloved four-stage user-selectable filter controls and retains the three-stage user-selectable digital crossfeed function for headphone users who want to improve the perception of depth.
