A fourth-generation Rega MC cartridge engineered for flagship performance, the handmade and British-built Aphelion 2 is fine-tuned to deliver extraordinary levels of detail and dynamics from vinyl LPs while simultaneously proving to be one of the most accurate trackers in the industry. It features a boron cantilever fitted with an advanced fine-line nude diamond profile, an extraordinarily powerful miniaturized neodymium magnet, and a meticulously hand-wound coil on an iron micro cross. Comprising one of the smallest MC generators ever made, the combination allows for a weight reduction responsible for Aphelion 2's exceptional precision and ability to extract finite details from grooves. In addition, Aphelion 2's diamond "Vital" profile stylus is rotated 90 degrees to enhance the rigidity of the mount. Rega truly pulled out all stops on Aphelion 2, as evidenced by the most visible element – distinguished housing. Protected by a see-through CAD-designed cover that shields the internal fine wires from accidental damage, Aphelion 2 is topped off by a single-piece, black-anodized aluminum body with a zero-tolerance grade.

Rega's MC cartridge design is unique in its approach to achieving an ultra-low-mass generator that is undamped (no tie wire) using a unique rhomboid pivot for the cantilever, powered by a purpose-designed, Rega-exclusive neodymium magnet system. The architecture requires a zero-tolerance engineered cartridge body, which is Rega's area of expertise. With Aphelion 2 ,these bodies are machined from one piece of the highest-quality aluminum. In particular, the "zero" tolerancing of the body is required in the alignment and dimension of the pivot pad mounting hole and the magnet mechanism mounting hole relationship.
