Description

Balanced Size and Performance: REL T/7x Subwoofer Delivers Powerful Bass from an Elegant Chassis, Plays with Speed, Clarity, and Muscle

The REL T/7x subwoofer packs a powerful bass punch from an elegant chassis that's easy to position just about anywhere. With its rounded corners, compact size, and visually pleasing aesthetics, it can be easily integrated into a variety of environments – whether it's a dedicated listening room, a home-theater system, or a living room for the entire family.

T/7x occupies the "sweet spot" in the middle of the Serie T, making it the ideal choice for the audiophile who needs a bit more muscle than what the T/5x offers. This powerhouse can enable your system to create an immersive, transformative soundstage with realistic sonic textures and details. Measuring 14 inches wide and about 14 inches deep, it delivers bass tones with nuance and startling realism. T/7x has a power output of 200 watts and a low-frequency extension of -6dB at 30 Hz.

Without question, T/7x is one of the most-balanced REL subwoofers of all time. In order to achieve perfect balance, a subwoofer design must weigh speed against heft, while always ensuring extension depth with clarity. T/7x manages to make it all seem easy. Quick and delicate for a perfect blend, T/7x can pound out exceptionally deep yet tuneful bass that belies its size and plays louder than most users will ever require.

Its 8-inch long-throw active and 10-inch passive drivers are the keys to the incredible speed. A thorough design revision of critical suspension components accounts for the agility and suppleness of T/7x. Much like the suspension of an automobile, these elements are responsible for the tuning and feel of the subwoofer. The result: T/7x sounds louder and more powerful than many would expect, and few would predict that it also is faster, more reactive, and has greater transparency than its predecessor.

The muscular, 200-watt MOSFET amplifier used in T/7x offers huge reserves of current, and numerous upgrades have been incorporated. New driver MOSFETS that improve the performance and transparency – as well as new methods for securing the toroidal transformers – add up to superior strength with stellar clarity.

"Few do bass depth and bass speed like this subwoofer at anything like the same price, and for that alone it deserves very high praise because that means the REL sub can keep up with fast musical transients played through equally fast and reactive loudspeakers."
Hi-Fi+, 2021 Subwoofer of the Year award

"I'd argue that where previous REL subs at this price point were hi-fi subs that could be used in cinema, the Serie T/7x straddles the divide almost perfectly: Home cinema enthusiasts will view this as a powerful sub that can also do two-channel music, where two-channel enthusiasts see this as the audiophile's friend that can also speak cinema... It's the one to beat right now."
—Alan Sircom, Hi-Fi+

"What the new REL /x subwoofers bring to your system, in addition to more bass output, is a higher level of definition in the lower frequencies, as well as more presence in the entire frequency spectrum. Don't believe me? Listen to them for an hour and have a friend shut them off while remaining at your listening position. Better yet, have your friend do it while you're listening to music with barely any low-frequency content. It will grab you instantly. The best way to really experience what any REL subwoofer can do is to shut it off. The 30 seconds you hear your system with it disabled will convince you. That's truly all it takes.... These are fantastic subwoofers."
—Jeff Dorgay, TONEAudio, Exceptional Value Award

“The T/7x made me realize what a subwoofer could mean to a complete audiophile system. I never thought a subwoofer could integrate cohesively with such detailed and accurate bass, creating a virtual extension of the main speakers…”

Melding Performance and Design

The team at REL has established an intense linkage between performance and design. Performance is paramount, so it drives physical design revisions. REL audio engineers, recognizing the need for greater acoustic volume to achieve the goals of greater fluidity and power, turned to the design team, which devised gently rounded corner radii that allow the eye to perceive less visual mass. The resulting aesthetic is both modern and familiar, with no unnecessary adornment.

Total Reliability

REL has retained its signature Class A/B amplifiers used in every generation of Serie T since 2006. Reliability is the key to happy ownership, and with some 200,000 (and counting) of this range leading long, happy lives, Serie T/x owners can feel confident in REL's standard-setting reliability.

Setting the Bar Higher

REL's legendary High Level Input connection and fast filters are a significant part of the REL story. Connecting via the speaker outputs of your amplifier without drawing any power from it may seem like magic, but the real magic lies in the way the sound takes on a natural character. Unique tuning and special limiters mean the REL T/7x Subwoofer sounds fresher, faster, and more dynamic than its predecessor.
