Hear Why the Audiolab 6000A MKII Pushes the Envelope for the Entry-Level High-End Segment: Integrated Amplifier Features ESS ES9038Q2M DAC, Expansive Connectivity, 50Wpc Output, and More
Weighing just 17.2 pounds, the Class AB 6000A MKII pushes the envelope on what's possible from an entry-level high-end integrated unit. Able to deliver a true 50Wpc into eight ohms with a maximum current delivery of 11A amps into challenging loads, it features CFB (Complementary Feedback) topology in the output stage of the discrete power amp circuits for superior linearity and excellent thermal stability. In the critical power supply, a 213VA toroidal transformer is followed by 4x 15000uF reservoir capacity to achieve consistent, resolute control over your speakers.
But that's just the start of what's on offer. Consider: A 32-bit ES9038Q2M DAC chipset with HyperStream architecture, Time Domain Jitter Eliminator, and post-DAC two-stage Class-A linear-phase filter operate with low noise and excellent dynamics. Support for up to 768kHz PCM and aptX HD Bluetooth 5.1. Five digital filters. A JFET MM phonostage with precise RIAA equalization. A dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry, high-gain bandwidth, and high slew rate for detailed, engaging operation with all headphone types.
And whether you're just starting to build a system or have multiple sources, 6000A MKII invites you to hook up. Three RCA inputs, the aforementioned phono input, and a power input accompany two coax and S/PDIF inputs take care of digital sources. A Bluetooth aptX receiver serves wireless audio playback and smart devices. A USB awaits your PC. You also get a pre-out for added versatility. What's more, three multifunctional operation modes further expand the possibilities. "Integrated" is a combination of the pre and power amp stages. "Pre" turns the unit into a dedicated preamplifier. "Pre Power" separates the pre and power stages so 6000A MKII can be used solely as a power amp.
Housed in a sleek chassis, 6000A MKII sports three rotary knobs and a 2.7-inch VA LCD display. The intuitive GUI makes operation easy, and a supplied remote control lets you take command from your seated position. A three-year manufacturer warranty and our Satisfaction Guarantee pile on the reasons why 6000A MKII should be at the top of your list if you're considering an integrated anywhere near this price point.
[It] delivers a collection of analog and digital connections that are competitive with anything under a grand. It's what it does with that functionality that is really impressive, however."

Improved Power Supply and Transformer
6000A MKII uses an improved transformer and implementation. Increased voltage delivered from the transformer secondary windings, and reduced impedance for better control of the power supply voltage. The effect of this is a typically Audiolab sound signature: remarkable sonic consistency that is thoroughly engaging with crisp definition, incredible dynamics, and rhythmic timing. A substantial 200VA toroidal transformer is followed by 4 x 15000uF reservoir capacitors for the power-amp power supply (30000uF per rail).
Advanced DAC Technology
Audiolab elevated the DAC performance with the ESS SABRE ES9038Q2M chipset. This DAC supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and incorporates HyperStream II architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator for ultra-low noise and exceptional dynamic range. MKII also benefits from a new Class A circuit in the post-DAC active filter stage, offering a more refined listening experience.
Expanded Connectivity
The state-of-the-art digital-to-analog signal conversion enables the four S/PDIF inputs and new HDMI ARC input for convenient AV system integration. Then there's a step up to a Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD receiver for optimum range, speed, and performance when streaming over Bluetooth connection.
Signal Purity and Flexibility
The preamp section of 6000A MKII continues Audiolab's philosophy of minimalism for maximum signal purity. The precision analog volume control and independent low-noise power supplies ensure a performance that competes with significantly more expensive amplifiers. Other inputs continue to extend to analog RCA and a phon stage with a dedicated high-quality, low-noise circuit with precise RIAA equalization. Not to mention a dedicated headphone amp also with current-feedback circuitry. Its gain bandwidth and high slew rate ensure a dynamic, detailed, and engaging performance with all manner of headphone types.
