Audio Technica - AT-MCD1 Dual MC Phono Cartridge
Full Details
Hear What Happens When Detail, Speed, Smoothness, and Naturalism Seamlessly Integrate: Audio-Technica AT-MCD1 Dual MC Phono Cartridge Delivers Flagship Performance, Features a Unified Stylus-Cantilever Formed from a Lab-Grown Diamond
Flagship moving-coil phono cartridges have a new alias in the form of the Audio-Technica AT-MCD1. Terrifically detailed, fast, responsive, transparent, smooth, and natural, the hand-crafted AT-MCD1 reproduces everything from the faintest nuances to powerful dynamic expressions, presenting sound in which image contours and spatial depth emerge with vivid dimensionality. By retrieving even the most delicate signals without loss, sound rises from black backgrounds, and the texture of instruments and the lingering resonance of harmonics get conveyed as if you were witnessing live musicians play feet away from you.
Its key reference-grade features are many. For starers: Its integrated stylus and diamond cantilever (formed from a single lab-grown diamond) eliminates the distortion caused by conventional bonding for pure signal transmission, fast transient response, and enhanced high-frequency expression. Its newly devised Shibata stylus (R2.7 × r0.08 mil tip radius) traces the intricate modulations of record grooves with extreme accuracy for a precise, lifelike, hyper-defined listening experiences. And its dedicated magnetic circuit, developed specifically for high-class Audio-Technica MC cartridges, achieves high-output voltage (without altering coil impedance) while further enriching the presence and realism of the imaging.
Augmented with dual moving coils with PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) to provide high separation and wide response for clear localization and minimal distortion, AT-MCD1's ultra-efficient magnetic circuit creates strong magnetic flux density and output voltage for outstanding focus and accuracy. Its hybrid body construction – rigid titanium housing, aluminum base, elastomer undercover – reduces undesirable resonance while threaded cartridge-mounting holes allow for easy installation to a headshell or integrated tonearm. And lest we forget, 3-micron gold-plated terminal pins reduce contact resistance and enhance overall sound quality.
Engraved with a unique serial number and sold in a solid cherry wood storage case, AT-MCD1 is next-level analog. To learn more, please give us a call at 312-433-0200.
Unified Diamond Stylus-Cantilever
The AT-MCD1’s unified Shibata stylus (R2.7 × r0.08 mil tip radius) and 0.22mm square diamond cantilever is formed from a single, lab-grown diamond. This unique construction eliminates the distortion caused by conventional bonding of stylus to cantilever.
Moving-Coil Construction
AT-MCD1 adopts the highly efficient magnetic circuit originally developed for the AT-ART20, which generates strong magnetic flux density and output voltage for exquisite sonic realism. Two independent PCOCC moving coils, positioned at the cantilever’s fulcrum, ensure pure signal transmission for each channel.
