Inside, a 12-inch long-throw driver moves air and remains composed. Its rigid, lightweight coated paper cone combines low mass with self-damping properties, and is supported by a die-cast chassis, oversized surround, and high-excursion motor system. The large-diameter voice coil ensures capable power handling, and an aluminum shorting ring helps maintain linearity and reduce distortion. In addition, a high-current Class D amplifier and DSP function as part of the complete acoustic system. Amplifier, driver, cabinet loading and signal processing combine to deliver strong dynamic output and behave with audiophile-grade composure. DSP-controlled dynamic EQ continuously supports that balance, preserving weight and extension at lower volumes while managing driver excursion at higher levels.

Instead of a conventional bass-reflex port, NOVA 12 uses a downward-firing, mass-loaded auxiliary bass radiator. Working in tandem with the active driver, it extends low-frequency output while avoiding the turbulence, compression, and resonance that often accompany traditional ported designs. On the back panel, four speaker binding posts, two RCA inputs, and two low-level outputs complement volume and crossover controls as well as switches for phase, music/movie mode, and level.
