Hear Beguiling Dynamics, Openness, Musicality, and Clarity from Vinyl LPs: Ortofon Windfeld Ti MC Phono Cartridge Uses Cutting-Edge Technology and Materials to Achieve Reference Performance
The Ortofon Windfeld Ti MC phono cartridge ranks among the most highly sophisticated analog instruments ever developed. By actively reducing unwanted vibrations, this titanium jewel plays back vinyl LPs with beguiling degrees of dynamics, openness, musicality, delicacy, accuracy, clarity, and realism. Words cannot truly express the emotional sensations wrought by Windfeld Ti when it probes the grooves of a record. Put simply, Windfeld Ti turns physical LPs into live events faithfully recreated in your listening room. Sought-after audiophile traits such as wide channel separation, distinct imaging, black backgrounds, and microdetails go from being wishful fantasies to everyday realities. Yes, this Ortofon creation is that good. And while its exclusive experiences do not come cheap, when you consider the extent of the cutting-edge technology, rare materials, and manufacturing process involved – read more about each below – Windfeld Ti more than justifies its worth. Made via an advanced Selective Laser Melting process, Windfeld Ti features a Replicant 100 diamond stylus, Boron cantilever, neodymium magnet, gold-plated Aucurum coils, and Ortofon's Field Stabilizing Element cylinder as well as the company's patented Wide Range Damping system. The end result: A reference cartridge that virtually eliminates resonance and vibration, touts surgically precise tracking abilities, and out-of-this-world stability.
“What you do get is a cartridge that performs well in all areas with standing out; that is what most listeners want in a transducer. This ability to play whatever, whenever, is the MC Windfeld Ti’s biggest asset.”

SLM Technology and Highest-Grade Materials Yield Extreme Precision, Amazing Channel Separation
Ortofon's Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology and high-precision process eschews traditional techniques. An engineering breakthrough, SLM welds together fine particles of titanium, layer by layer, to construct a single-piece body devoid of extraneous material. This technique allows for precise control of the density of the body material, yielding extremely high internal damping. The final result provides freedom over vibrations within the cartridge body material. The use of titanium in MC Windfeld Ti offers a further improvement to the overall rigidity of the structure, the cartridge weight, and dynamic capability. The magnet system is based on an extremely strong, compact neodymium magnet, which makes the generator system compact and lighter through its minimal dimensions. Using Ortofon's gold-plated, 6NX oxygen-free copper Aucurum coils allows for zero-loss transmission of the diamond movements via its Boron cantilever. This combination marries low-moving mass with an extremely high degree of rigidity. Inspired by the elements of MC A95 design, MC Windfeld Ti employs a specially designed armature used to achieve extreme precision in each coil turn in all layers, enabling the cartridge achieve a higher degree of channel separation while simultaneously offering lower distortion and better channel balance.
Ortofon FSE, WRD, and Diamond Stylus Create Dramatic Dynamics, Resolution, and Richness
Ortofon's Field Stabilizing Element (FSE), a small cylinder of conductive material strategically placed inside the magnet system, guarantees the force field remains stable regardless of the movement of the armature. FSE improves channel separation while minimizing dynamic distortion and intermodulation. The result: fantastic dynamics and even more elbow room between the musicians. You simply experience greater breadth, height, and depth in the soundscapes between your loudspeakers. Ortofon's patented Wide Range Damping system (WRD) – in which a small, heavy platinum disc gets sandwiched between two rubber absorbers, both with different properties – ensures exceptional tracking performance and creates perfect damping through the entire frequency range. Because of this, distortion and resonance are virtually eliminated. MC Windfeld Ti makes use of Ortofon's Replicant 100 diamond, known for its thin, light profile and extraordinarily large vertical contact surface. Since Replicant 100 is closest to the shape of the cutting stylus, it can trace with an accuracy unparalleled by any other stylus. Special polishing of the diamond along with the use of a Boron cantilever offer remarkable transparency, speed, and responsiveness.
Stunning Flexibility and Compatibility
Ortofon has always followed its own path with regard to the mechanical design of the cartridge housing. All this because mechanical rigidity and total freedom from resonance in the audible range are a precondition for optimal sound quality. In MC Windfeld Ti, the cartridge's contact with the tonerarm takes place through three hard, well-defined contact points placed on the fastening section of the cartridge. This ensures the mechanical integration of the cartridge and the tonearm arm is perfect. With optimized weight and moderate compliance to suit the majority of modern tonearms, MC Windfeld Ti is compatible with an endless array of contemporary high-end turntables. A low-output impedance of 7 ohms and a low-output voltage of 0.2mV makes MC Windfeld Ti a great partner for most MC preamps as well as step-up transformers.
Appearance Mirrors Function
MC Windfeld Ti is unique in cosmetic terms: The parts of the cartridge housing are produced with matte-black surfaces. The fastening section – made in raw titanium – is distinct via its silver color. The underside facing the record is covered by a shield that reinforces the mechanical structure. Per Windfeld's characteristic initials in silver, accompanied by the letters "Ti" (Titanium), adorn the sides of the cartridge housing, paying tribute to Windfeld's legacy and signifying the technological advancements that create a new standard of analog performance.
