Wadia 151 PowerDAC Mini DAC/Integrated Amp
An Incredible 24bit/384k DAC and Integrated Amp - A Serious Audiophile-Recommended Component in a Compact Chassis
The Absolute Sound Editor's Choice Award-Winner
Since its inception, Wadia Digital has always been on the cutting edge of digital technology. The new Power DAC mini is the result of sheer ingenuity combining with today’s new modern digital sources. This product is best described as a DAC with a 50-watt integrated amplifier bolted to it, but that does not capture the innovation inside the PowerDAC mini. It’s literally just a digital-to-analog converter with gain, meaning that the signal stays in the digital domain, untouched by gain stages that add distortions, right until the signal exits as an analog waveform.
"This is a 21st Century audio component, making up the core of a
high-performance system that should fit anywhere with ease. You should
be able to have the 151 up and playing music with one hand tied behind
your back in about five minutes. If you consider this as essentially a
$600 DAC and a $600 integrated amplifier in one chassis, you be hard
pressed to find this kind of performance elsewhere at this price. The
Wadia 151 PowerDAC mini is the perfect anchor for a high-performance,
all digital system. We are happy to award it one of our Exceptional
Value Awards for 2010. Wadia has created another breakthrough product
that may just define a new category, as their 170 iTransport did two

This purity is what gives the PowerDAC mini its unbelievable detail and imaging skill. And with the help of Wadia’s proprietary Digimaster up-sampling technology (24bit/384k), which ultimately creates the smooth analog sinewave at the output speaker terminals, you’ll experience the most natural portrayal of musical instruments and voices you have ever heard from such a compact device. Having a team of Wadia engineers on your side makes for quite an impressive listening experience!
"Audiophiles often bemoan how expensive great-sounding audio
can be. For only [$1,195] you can own a device that will form the
backbone of a revealing and musical system…the Wadia [PowerDAC mini]
delivers sonics that should enthrall anyone who gives it a listen!"

The PowerDAC mini also throws a holographic soundstage: pure insight into the original recording space. The circuit is so pure, you will also hear reproduction without grain or etch; there’s no digital hardness whatsoever. This product sounds so musical, with all the warmth and natural tonality of the actual recorded event intact. If you are one of the thousands of music lovers who already own a Wadia iTransport or just want to take advantage of today’s digital source material, you owe it to yourself to give the PowerDAC mini a listen. 100% Music Direct Money Back Guaranteed!

"The first and most noticeable aspect of the [PowerDAC mini] 151 is its bass performance. Bass is very tight, with excellent definition and control. There is a naturalness and coherence to the midrange of this DAC/amplifier that one doesn’t often hear. The 151 is not bright. And the 151 does not have the splashy treble that some inexpensive players exhibit. Imaging strikes me as another strength of the 151. Central images are precisely rendered and the lateral spread of orchestral instruments sounds quite natural. These items don’t appear to be lacking in conventional equipment, but you realize they are when you hear something better. I’d say the Wadia 151PowerDAC is in that “something better” category. Pretty rare stuff for a component in this price class. If you have the impression that I’ve enjoyed the Wadia 151PowerDAC, you would be correct!"
