Full, Clear Sound from a Slim Footprint: Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 Floor-Standing Loudspeaker Features One-Inch Decoupled Carbon Dome Tweeter and FST Midrange Driver

Slim is in with the Bowers & Wilkins 704 S3 floor-standing loudspeaker. Measuring 38 x 9.9 x 12.6 inches (HWD), the three-way floorstander gives you the convenience of a small footprint as well as the pleasures of big, clear, dynamic high-end sound. Voice-matched to every other model in the 700 Series, 704 S3 can serve as a remarkable two-channel speaker or as part of a dream home-theater system. No matter how (or where) you use it, the 42.5-pound model will reward you with stunning transparency, definition, and presence.

Reasons for 704 S3’s engaging performance and acoustic acumen relate to its proprietary drivers, across-the-board upgrades, and high-tech construction. Developed exclusively for 700 Series, a one-inch Decoupled Carbon Dome tweeter raises the breakup threshold to 47kHz for pinpoint imaging, sharpness, and accuracy. It complements a five-inch Decoupled Continuum cone Fixed Suspension Transducer (FST) midrange driver that plays with natural openness, neutrality, and control. Equipped with Biomimetic Suspension and midrange decoupling, it resists distortion, vibration, and interference. Inspired by Bowers & Wilkins’ 800 Series Diamond, narrower cabinets, curved baffles, and enhancements to the motors, chassis, crossovers, and terminal trays further put 704 S3 head and shoulders above its well-reviewed predecessor.

For low-frequency depth and dynamics, a pair of computer-modeled five-inch Aerofoil Profile bass cones tout the requisite stiffness and rigidity for their function. Plus, Bowers & Wilkins' Flowport reduces friction and improves efficiency. And audio tweakers will be pleased to know they can dial-in the bass responsiveness of 703 S3 by inserting the supplied two-piece foam plug into the rear-firing port. To complete the package, Bowers & Wilkins provides removable magnetic grilles, dual gold-plated binding-post terminals, rubber feet and spikes, and a five-year manufacturer warranty.
