Featuring a titanium housing and body made with Ortofon's Selective Laser Melting technique (SLM), and a magnet system adorned with high-performance iron-cobalt alloy, MC Anna Diamond specializes providing music in its entirety without compromise, offering an ideal balance of precision and naturalism with fine attention to both micro- and macro-dynamics in combination with fluid tonality and texture. To do so, it relies on Ortofon's Wide-Range armature damping system to make unwanted resonance a problem of the past. By extending the armature beyond the coils, the system directly interfaces with the rubber dampers that sandwich a small platinum disc. The approach that offers more consistent movement and thereby, enhanced stereo perspective and transient delineation. System resonances are further cured by the implementation of a Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE) compound on the bottom cover assembly.

The Replicant 100 diamond, sporting a thin and light profile and extraordinarily large contact surface, mirrors the shape of the cutting stylus and therefore can trace with unparalleled accuracy. Special polishing of the diamond, along with the use of a diamond cantilever, provides the best-possible interface between the stylus and armature, owing to its hardness and crystal structure.

MC Anna Diamond's blockbuster dynamic capacity stems from its highly efficient magnet system that combines with neodymium and iron cobalt to offer offer-the-charts consistency of the flux density within the system's air gap. Due to an increase of active material inside of the magnet system, the magnetic field strength gets delivered more uniformly, allowing each coil to sense identical flux density regardless of its position. As a result, dynamics and impulse linearity are preserved to an overwhelming extent. The approach also permits Ortofon to employ a lightweight, precision-molded, non-magnetic armature that does not alter the magnetic field during movement. Hence, when combined with ultra-pure oxygen-free copper coil wire, it delivers extremely exact reproduction of the cantilever movements.

Ortofon's SLM Construction Technique
An engineering feature adding to the damping capability of the MC Anna Diamond cartridge is the SLM technique in which fine particles of titanium are welded together, layer by layer, to construct a single-piece body devoid of unnecessary material. Using this technique, the density of the body can be precisely controlled, allowing for extremely high internal damping. The final result provides absolute freedom from resonances existing in the cartridge body material and allows for the MC Anna Diamond to be perfectly matched with an extremely wide array of different tonearms. Because of the nature of SLM-based construction, each cartridge body is cosmetically unique and will show small dimples or lines under close examination.
