On Saturday night, July 19, 2003 in Liverpool, England, in celebration of John Mayall's 70th birthday and for the benefit of UNICEF's fight against child exploitation, The Godfather of British Blues and The Bluesbreakers (Tom Canning, Hank Van Sickle, Joe Yuele and Buddy Whittington) reunited with the likes of Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and Chris Barber for nearly two and a half hours of transcendent blues. This marked the first time Clapton and Mayall had performed together in nearly 40 years. From blues standards to classics from the Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton album and on to contemporary Bluesbreakers material, the 4LP-set 70th Birthday Concert Live in Liverpool documents one of the finest nights of blues this millennium!
