Santana's Legendary Lotus on Japanese Import 180g Vinyl 3LP: Limited 2017 Japanese Release Remastered by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab and Pressed at RTI

On July 3rd and 4th, 1973, Carlos Santana and his band played two incredible shows for thousands of delighted fans in Osaka. Sony Music Japan ran tape and captured this historic event for a soon-to-be-released live album: Lotus. The resulting 3LP set became a legendary classic.

Initially released only in Japan, the monumental package would become the most cherished live album of the band’s career via the extensive two-hour performance of non-stop hits and deep album tracks. The album would soon become one of the most expensive imported records at the time as Santana fans and collectors in the States would pay serious dollars to get this domestically.

Featuring a cross-section of Santana hits such as "Black Magic Woman," "Oye Como Va," "Waiting," and "Every Step Of The Way," plus the exotic rhythms and jams on workouts like "Batuka," "Mantra," and the beautifully-orchestrated instrumental "Samba Pa Ti," Carlos Santana’s guitar work is as explosive as ever here and reinforced by the enthusiastic audience.

Santana is joined by his bandmates drummer Michel Shrieve, bassist Doug Rauch, percussionists Jose Areas and Armando Perez, and keyboardist Tom Coster; plus the brilliant vocalist Leon Thomas.

Featuring an OBI band, individually numbered sticker on the back cover, four 12-inch double-sided color inserts, a reproduction of original Japanese Lotus promotional flyer, and a giant MoFi sticker on the original shrink, this 2017 reissue also faithfully replicates the original 22-panel fold-over design and inserts by Tadanori Yokoo.
