Description

Add Bluetooth Streaming to Practically Any System: McIntosh MB20 Bluetooth Transceiver Uses Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX HD, Features Balanced Inputs and Outputs

Add Bluetooth streaming capability to any system with the the McIntosh MB20 Bluetooth transceiver. A Class 1 Bluetooth device that uses Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD and operates at a range of up to 150 feet, the smartphone-sized MC20 can both send and receive Bluetooth signals — bringing even vintage-era gear into the modern age. It can play digital music stored on your phone, in your cloud, or via your streaming services. MB20 can also transmit the sound of your vinyl-turntable combination to a Bluetooth speaker or set of Bluetooth 'phones.

True to its McIntosh heritage, MB20 prioritizes sound quality. To wit: Abundant connectivity that includes sets of balanced inputs and outputs — rarely found on Bluetooth products — for premium fidelity. As a receiver, MB20 employs a 32-bit/192kHz DAC and an extremely sensitive receiver for better reception. An external antenna helps maximize its range. As a transmitter, MB20 employs an ADC with a 110dB SNR and touts a range 10 times greater than that of a typical Class 2 Bluetooth device. As a transceiver, MB20 can function as either a Bluetooth receiver or transmitter — but not both at the same time. Simply set the switch on the back panel for the desired use

With M20 in Receiver mode, you can stream to it via Bluetooth from any compatible device with Bluetooth streaming capabilities. This audio can then be played through your system regardless of when your amplifier or preamplifier was made. With MB20 in Transmitter mode, you can stream from it to any device that receives Bluetooth-streamed audio. In this setup, you can stream music stored on physical media, such as CDs or vinyl, to your wireless Bluetooth headphones or wireless Bluetooth speakers.

If you have more than one system in your home within range of each other, you can add an MB20 to each and set one unit to Transmitter mode and the other to Receiver mode. This allows you to stream music stored on physical media, such as from a CD player or turntable, from one system to the other. Or, if you have the need for a high-performance audio link from one part of your house to another but running cables is not possible, two MB20s wirelessly connected in this manner will create a full wireless encode/decode bridge.
