Description

Flagship Performance, Innovative Design: Japanese-Built Shelter MC Phono Cartridge Plays with Detailed Insight, Explosive Dynamics, and Clarifying Quiet

The Japanese-made Harmony, Shelter’s flagship MC phono cartridge, delivers detailed, insightful playback that both draws out the subtle nuances of the music while presenting explosive dynamics and natural tones. Featuring a dry carbon fiber body that offers a superb acoustic characteristic and an ideal match with the advanced motor assembly, Shelter aces reproduction even on records with suboptimal sonics. The unique design features ensure that Harmony produces no coloration, remains exceptionally quiet, and supplies reference-level accuracy even when tracking the most demanding passages. A former winner of an Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award, Harmony is true to its name — and a cartridge that counts itself among the finer MC designs available.

More About the Materials and Build
Dry carbon is designed in layers and unique molding. Harmony has a compression rating of 60-tons whereas the conventional process is 24-tons. The benefit is that the resonant frequency of CFRP is outside of any audible frequency. In addition, it provides a high degree of internal damping along with superb isolation characteristics that protects the body from extraneous vibration and noise. The motor assembly uses a hard aluminum cantilever and OFC wiring. Hard aluminum allows Shelter to firmly affix the diamond stylus tip to a rigid albeit responsive base. The length of the cantilever is slightly shorter than typical designs in order to increase the strength-to-output-voltage ratio.

"The result is a cartridge that sounds exceedingly detailed and nuanced, yet not at all 'analytical,' and offers expressive, explosive dynamics."
