Function-First, High-Quality NAD C 558 Turntable Comes with Pre-Mounted Ortofon OM10 Cartridge: Minimum-Fuss, Belt-Driven Design Plays with Smoothness, Speed, and Accuracy
NAD's C 558 belt-driven turntable puts high-end manufacturers on alert everywhere that there's a new contender vying for the entry-level crown. Boasting the same function-first, budget-minded, high-quality characteristics that have defined the company's amplification and digital source components for more than four decades, C 558 comes with a pre-mounted Ortofon OM10 phono cartridge for plug-and-play ease. An AC motor with isolated power supply, nine-inch tonearm, glass platter, massive MDF plinth, and low-resonance Perspex dust cover speak to the ‘table's basics-over-bells-and-whistles focus. Translation: Minimum-fuss vinyl playback marked by accurate speed, remarkable smoothness, low noise, excellent stability, and class-beating precision. The smartly engineered C 558 also allows for VTA and azimuth adjustments so you hear your LPs as they're meant to be heard. Entry-level high-end listeners have never had it so good. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.
Intelligent Power Supply for Consistency and Smoothness
C 558's sophisticated power supply transforms the AC alternating voltage of your wall socket into a pure DC voltage. The DC voltage is then regenerated into a precise AC voltage that powers a precision clock motor to achieve nearly perfect speed consistency and smoothness. The motor is isolated from noise and voltage fluctuations that occur in the unfiltered AC mains that can cause instability in the motor. The latter uses a specially developed rubber belt that is flat ground for precision and drives a non-resonant sub platter precisely machined for smooth rotation. This sits in a brass bearing with a hardened steel shaft. All these parts are carefully developed to work together to provide a remarkably stable and precise rotation of the disc. C 558's tonearm offers a similar level of careful engineering and development. At 9" long, it offers low tracking distortion while maintaining rigidity and low mass required to stabilize the cartridge.
