Description

Superior Performance with Full Adjustability: Award-Winning Pro-Ject X2 B Turntable Features a 9-Inch Tonearm, an Acrylic Platter, and Aluminum Feet

The Pro-Ject X2 B turntable is for the audiophile who wants spectacular sound and full adjustability in a high-performance, handmade turntable—without breaking the bank. Other outstanding features include a 9-inch tonearm, a heavy acrylic platter, and height-adjustable aluminum feet. The X2 B also has fully adjustable azimuth and vertical-tracking angle (VTA), so you can tweak the sound to suit your tastes.

The one-piece tonearm offers precise, stable, and highly accurate tracking. Its carbon/aluminum sandwich construction is designed for superb internal damping. The carbon layer gives the tonearm a high degree of rigidity, while the inner aluminum tube supplies the damping properties. Additionally, the increased mass makes the tonearm an excellent fit for low-compliance MC cartridges (such as the Ortofon Quintet Red). The tonearm is designed without a resonance-inducing headshell, and it is supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight, which significantly reduces arm-cartridge resonances.

The tonearm height can be continuously adjusted by loosening the two grub screws. These settings give you the option of adapting the tonearm to height changes, allowing for the use of different turntable mats or other cartridges to always achieve the best sound quality. (Setting and experimenting with the azimuth and VTA is crucial for getting the best performance out of your cartridge. Call a Music Direct audio consultant if you have any questions.)

The X2 B motor runs ultra-quiet as it spins a resonance-free, 4.4-pound acrylic platter. The motor chassis is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision tuned TPE belt. This design ensures that the motor chassis is effectively decoupled from the main plinth for optimal performance. Structurally, the X2 B is supported a large, heavy MDF chassis, which reduces unwanted resonances to almost imperceptible levels. The high mass enables the X2 B to offer vinyl playback that is detailed and precise, with huge dynamics.

The playback speeds are electronically controlled with a sophisticated DC/AC generator, which guarantees the most accurate and stable music reproduction. You can change speeds easily with the press of a button. Using the flat belt, you can switch between 33RPM and 45RPM. If you mount the supplied round belt, you will be able to switch between 45RPM and 78RPM. (You will need an appropriate phono cartridge to play 78RPM records.)

The three height-adjustable damped aluminum feet ensure that the turntable is perfectly level while massively reducing the risk of acoustical feedback. This elegant, high-performance turntable is handmade in Europe with premium materials, and it comes with the 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee.

"Vinyl enthusiasts keen to step up from an entry-level turntable need look no further than Pro-Ject's X2 B. This new balanced upgrade of the company's tried-and-trusted X2...offers an astute and gorgeous sound. Its [4.4-pound] acrylic platter and rigid massive plinth, available in four lavish finishes, deliver consistent and resonance-free playback."

Balanced Connections Result in Better Sonics

The X2 B comes with mini XRL and RCA outputs and with a standard semi-balanced Connect it Phono E RCA cable with excellent shielding. By upgrading it to a fully balanced mini XLR to mini XLR version (available separately) and using a balanced phono stage, you will experience increased dynamics, less noise, and improved signal-to-noise ratios.

The X2 B is loaded with a Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge factory aligned, and together with balanced connection cables and a balanced phono stage, you'll be able to access high-end features that were previously only available in the most expensive hi-fi categories. The Pro-Ject X2 B turntable and Phono Box S3 B phono stage won the prestigious 2022–2023 EISA Award for best Vinyl System.
